How Distance Learning Works

Our Higher Education Diploma in Health & Social Care is completed through our online interactive learning management system.

As our learner, you will be issued with an email to create your own password to access your course. All materials such as course notes, supplementary reading documentation, online videos, and assignment briefs are contained in folders within each module. Each module has a site structured around a sequence of weekly topics. Each topic contains a lecture, typically a series of slides and accompanying audio recording, supported by guidance on key learning outcomes, self-assessment questions, and links to core and additional readings and other resources. You will also have access to our online student community and discussion forums to foster communication with our other students to discuss and resolve issues related to your studies.

The strengths of our Dip HE in Health & Social Care (NQF Level 5) lies in the way in which academic theory and real life practice are integrated to provide a solid foundation for a career or further study in the world of Health and Social Care.

social care diplomaThe Dip HE programme is suitable for learners who are currently working within or who are seeking to pursue a career in the broad area of Health and Social Care. This course will support learners to develop a critical understanding of health and social care research, legislation, theory, policy and practice.

Learners will study psychology, sociology, social policy, legal studies and research methods. Typically, many job roles and positions advertised for Team Leaders and Supervisors in Health and Social Care require applicants to have a HE qualification in Health and Social Care in addition to at least two years’ work experience with the Service User group.

Entry Requirements

Standard Entry Route

To apply for the HE Diploma in Health and Social Care via our Standard Entry Route you must have the following qualifications as a minimum:

  • 104 UCAS points from a minimum of two A-levels, or equivalent; along with three passes at GCSE grade C or above which must include Maths and English.
  • If English is not your first language, IELTS (academic) 6.0 or equivalent. If you do not hold an IELTS or equivalent qualification, we require students to pass an English test.

Non-Standard Entry Route

To apply for the HE Diploma in Health and Social Care via our Non Standard Entry Route you may be considered:

  • If you hold a Level 3 qualification or higher.
  • Your vocational training.
  • Your work experience.
  • If English is not your first language, IELTS (academic) 6.0 or equivalent. If you do not hold an IELTS or equivalent qualification, we require students to pass an English test.

You will be required to prepare a personal statement for Non Standard Entry.
